The Alpha-i Meditation Practice is based on understanding the biochemical processes of the body that elicit specific emotional states. Decades of mainstream medical research confirms the power of the mind-body relationship. Alpha-i is an innovative concise meditation technique designed to guide you into entering the brain wave states associated with meditation, enabling the body to achieve optimal health.
- Mind body relationship – Mindfulness is not just relaxing the mind. We thoroughly explain mind body biological processes that occur with the practice of mindfulness. *
- Breathing and Posture – specific triggers to autonomic nervous system to disengage the sympathetic (fight or flight) and engage the parasympathetic (rest, ease)
- Focused awareness exercises designed to use the power of directed thought to invoke a parasympathetic response to relax the body.
- Mental exercise that focus on the lens of perception itself to build up capacity to focus and also develop the objective observer or witness awareness ‘muscle’.
- Invoke emotional states (hormonal states) that are aligned with the parasympathetic system: rest, repair, ease, trust that build up the immune system
- State transition exercises to develop elasticity of awareness, ability to move between emotional states further reinforcing the observer muscle and the capacity to choose
Daily practice is cumulative. The body actually changes at the cellular level. We recommend 20 minutes a day for 8 weeks because the body replaces cells every 8 weeks.
Journaling – daily short report or question serves several purposes:
- Accountability to stay with the daily practice
- Communication and support
- Develops alpha brain wave state as a bridge between conscious and unconscious mind
These practices are good for a lifetime – Make it your own. There is nothing to join. We believe our basic courses provide the skills and capacity to continue on in your own exploration to deepen your practice. This will serve you in your daily practice and in your life.
What Alpha-i is not, is important, too. Alpha-i is not dependent on any ideology, or guru and is not physically demanding. It can be practiced in a chair, in a hospital bed, on a mountain top; as the real estate is internal and infinitely one’s own.
